Beyond Code: How Overt Software Solutions is Making a Difference in 2026
At Overt Software Solutions, our vision extends far beyond crafting innovative software. We believe in the power of technology to connect, but more importantly, in the power of human connection to transform lives. That's why, on the 21st of January 2026, we proudly launched our annual charity initiative, reinforcing our ongoing commitment to making a positive difference in the communities we serve.
This year, we are incredibly honoured to partner with two extraordinary organisations in Indonesia: the Bina Bhakti Retirement Center and the Mekar Lestari Orphanage. These foundations embody dedication and compassion, and through our campaign, we aim to offer meaningful support and build genuine connections that resonate beyond our daily work.

Honouring the Golden Years: The Bina Bhakti Retirement Center
Our journey began at the Bina Bhakti Retirement Center, a venerable institution providing essential care and companionship for the elderly. The foundation, currently headed by Mrs. Ninis, boasts a rich history, established specifically for its nursing home in 1986. It was pioneered by a compassionate nun from the Netherlands, working hand-in-hand with Mr. Supardi, the head of the foundation at the time. Their legacy continues to thrive, with the Bina Bhakti Foundation now operating three vital retirement homes:
- The original Bina Bhakti Retirement Home in Babakan
- The Stella Maris Retirement Home in Bogor
- The Caritas Home in Bekasi
Each of these homes maintains its own dedicated management team and bank account, a testament to the foundation's organised approach, allowing for easier oversight and efficient operation.

At the Babakan Retirement Home, Ms. Rina leads a dedicated team, tirelessly caring for 56 beloved "grandpas and grandmas." As Ms. Anyus, who along with Ms. Agies, provides vital support, shared, "Currently, here we have... our grandpas and grandmas, there are 56, and there are 39 staff members. We work together to care for the grandmas and grandpas." It’s a collective effort, driven by profound empathy.
Looking ahead, Bina Bhakti is focused on essential renovations. "Currently we are planning to renovate, because there are many leaks. Well, thankfully, most of it has already been renovated," Ms. Anyus explained. The immediate goal is to renovate the dormitory for the grandpas, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and dignified living environment for them. This practical support is crucial for the ongoing well-being of the residents.
Nurturing Bright Futures: The Mekar Lestari Orphanage
Our campaign also extends its embrace to the Mekar Lestari Orphanage (part of the Rumpun Lestari Foundation), a beacon of hope for children. Established in 2001 by Father Lambertus Somal, MSC, with the assistance of dedicated laypeople, this foundation provides a safe haven and crucial support for young lives.

Currently led by Mrs. Nani as the head of the home, with Mr. Suharto at the helm of the foundation, Mekar Lestari caters to a unique and often vulnerable demographic. "The children who are here... are those whose mothers were pregnant out of wedlock and were rejected by their families, or whose families are unaware of their situation," Mrs. Nani detailed. These children are placed in their temporary care until their mothers are ready to take them back, providing a critical safety net during challenging times. The foundation is deeply committed to supporting these children as they grow and learn, fostering an environment where they can thrive.
Stories from the Heart: Challenges and Triumphs
During our visit, we were profoundly moved by the candid reflections of the staff, who shared their daily challenges and the immense rewards of their work.
At Bina Bhakti, the primary challenge is profoundly human: "honestly, it is more about how we must have the patience to handle the grandpas and grandmas," said Ms. Anyus. Each elder, much like each staff member, has a unique character, requiring tailored attention and boundless patience. The goal is simple yet profound: to ensure they feel "comfortable living here," serving them diligently "with a heart that is, well... full of love." This dedication stems from a deep understanding that these are the "final moments" for many, where attention and affection are paramount.

Remarkably, Ms. Anyus expressed gratitude for their material well-being: "As for matters like funding and such, we always grateful because it is always provided. We never lack food; we never lack clothes, we never lack for anything." This unwavering faith was brought to life by a powerful anecdote: "In fact, there was a time when we actually ran out of rice... and at that time, there were still Sisters here. A Sister said, 'We must pray.'... In the middle of the night, a truck came in here bringing rice." This experience, she shared, taught her that "we have all these worries, but as it turns out, they can be overcome."
At Mekar Lestari, the challenges evolve with the children. "Our children are all grown up now, and we have to keep up with them in terms of... educating them well," Mrs. Nani explained. The focus is on ensuring the home runs smoothly with the resources provided by generous donors, specifically for the children's educational needs.

Both foundations underscored the deeply personal connections formed. Mrs. Nani shared, "When the children are happy, we feel happy. When the children are at peace, we feel at peace too." Similarly, a staff member from Bina Bhakti recounted a deeply personal memory of accompanying an Oma in her passing: "It turns out, in that process, there are moments when she’s angry, when she’s struggling, how she finds that sense of calm." This intimate experience highlighted the profound realization that "if we walk alone, things certainly don't go smoothly. Ah, but if we are always with God, we are always happy, always joyful."
A Message from Our CEO: The Heart of Community

Hearing these powerful stories firsthand served as a poignant reminder of why this campaign truly matters. Our CEO shared a reflection that resonated deeply with the entire team: "It's quite gratifying to know that... there's passion and love in the world that will look out for each other." He emphasized the comfort in knowing that "people are being well looked after and there's people willing to support." This sentiment encapsulates the very essence of Overt Software Solutions' commitment to corporate social responsibility.
